Don't Make A Permanent Decision On A Temperary Feeling
For my first article, I'm writing about a serious issue that many people deal on the daily basis; making decisions. Making decisions is apart of an everyday life. People are constantly worrying about what everyone else thinks, and are constantly stressing over decisions. It shouldn't have to be that way. Take some time, and take a deep breathe and just relax. Things may seem like they're falling apart, and keep getting worse, but try to remember things have to get worse and hit rock bottom, in order to build yourself back up and get better.
This blog happens to be on a different type of decision making; People chosing to take their own life. In most cases, people taking their own life, or trying, all starts with something known as depression. Depression can be summed up as a medical illness that causes a constant feeling of sadness and lack of interest. Depression affects how the person feels, behaves and thinks, and makes people constantly sad. Anyone can develop depression, which can be a little scary to think about. People can develop depression through many reasons such as certain medications they've been taking, death or loss, conflict, major events such as getting divorced, gentetics, substance use, personal problems or doubts about themselves, and one of the most common ones is physical and/or verbal abuse.
When it comes to physical and/verbal abuse, a lot of the cases in which people are taking their own lifes are teenagers. In some cases, teenagers kill themselves due to be bullied and/or harassed by other teenage students. It's sad that people are bullied to the point where they feel that's the only way out, and it hurts to know that people don't try to stop things like that from happening. Suicide and teen bullying are very two important things, that i wish i could prevent because nobody should ever feel like that's they're only way out. I know what it's like to be the "odd" one out for expressing my individuality, but that's because I feel an orginial is always worth much more than a copy. I've dealt with bullying my 6th, 7th and 8th grade year, which is why i transferred schools, so I know how it feels to be upset, but what people don't realize is how much it actually hurts. I wish I could start an anti-bullying commitee at our school, because people tend to overlook the whole "Bullying" situation and say "kids are just being kids", but in reality it's way more than just that; It's people feeling vunerable to make tough decisions because they don't know how else to cope with the feeling of depression. I think that we should have a commitee, because once the problem is addressed maybe it can help people realize what they're doing is wrong, and try to change. I want to help make a change. People don't realize how hurt a person is, until they make a permanent decision of taking their own life, but people can prevent that from happening. Here's a simple way you can prevent it from happening. If you are depressed, and/or know someone who is depressed, here's some hotlines you can call to talk to someone. Prove to them, you're strong. You can get through it.
Prove to them, you’re strong.

Depression is a very serious topic. Researchers are looking into other links to depression. Here is an article I came across about DNA connections: http://news.wustl.edu/news/Pages/22309.aspx
